Couple Up

Couple Up was a collaboratively made game that came out of Wonderlab, a microconference I ran for Hide&Seek in 2010.

I wanted to make sure that something concrete came out of the event, so on the final day the small group of participants came together to make a game from scratch – something which expressed the ideas and issues that we’d discussed over the preceding days.

You can read a quick intro to the game here,  or check out a much more indepth deconstruction of how it plays here.  The rules are available here, but I’d encourage you to read a little of the thinking behind it first – the game was deliberate designed to be broken in some interesting ways.

(Wonderlab itself was a pretty great thing – you should check out the microtalks YouTube channel.)
